Zito pitched a fantastic game that we had to have! His line tonight:

Now that's what I'm talking about. That's how an ace is supposed to pitch in a must-win game.
Losing streak and gut-wrenching losses aside, it was critical to win a game that featured so many unlikely contributions:
- Pete Happy knocking in all 3 runs
- Richie Aurilia going 4-for-4
- Big Bengie scoring all the way from 1st base on Pete's triple
- Another hit from Barry - Zito that is - to raise his avg to .136. He's almost caught Sweeney (.167)
Oh yeah, our new(?) temp(?) closer Hennessey wasn't too shabby either:
3 batters up and 3 outs. No walks. No balks. No hits. No walk-off jacks. Giants win. Go figure.
Hey Boch - great job in keeping in 'Mando on the bench for a few games with the old "He's been healthy to this point. Now his knee has flared up. You have to do the best you can with the players you have. ... We've got to close these games out and we've got to use our best option."
Benitez might be out tonight, too, Bochy said. Excellent! Well played, well played. This is what good managers do - give their teams the best chance to win games.
