'Mando's Gone! Giants WIN! Go Figure!

Well, whaddya know? The Giants get rid of 'Mando and then proceed to kick the crap out
of the Phillies 13-0.

Now, I know that 'Mando wasn't the cause of our anemic offense, but you can't tell me that
this team didn't feel a huge weight lifted off their shoulders - and with 'Mando, he is literally
a huge weight.

Oh, in 'Mando news he pitched one meaningless inning in a meaningless game for a meaningless team.
How do you know the Marlins are a meaningless team? Todd Linden found his way into the game as a
pinch hitter. Ahh yes, the sweet stench of Giant failures.
Good riddance Fatty!

5.31 vs. NY Mets - Giants Lose. BIG DEAL! BYE BYE BABY!

Sabean hits it long...hits it deep...HE'S OUTTTTTA HEEEEERRRREEE!
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?f=/chronicle/archive/2007/06/01/SPGVTQ5T6D1.DTL

In case you haven't already heard the joyous news, Fatboy has been traded to Florida Marlins
for a minor league pitcher, a pint of cuban-style black beans and an old dishrag. Bless their
hearts for their generosity by throwing in the minor league pitcher when we all know the
beans and dishrag would have been plenty by themselves!

Sure, we paid the Florida to take Fatboy off our hands, but who cares? This is a classic case
of addition by subtraction. Sure, he might end up saving a bunch of games for the Marlins this
year. Sure, our new closer (Hennessey?) or closer by committee might end up blowing more
games than 'Mando would have. But, really, who friggin cares? At least the new closer(s) can
blow saves with substance, class and humility. These guys officially have a free pass for the
rest of the season since no one expects much from them anyway. We're all just ecstatic to
see Blownitez long gone.

(Oh yeah, the Giants lost again to the Mets 4-2 last night, but right now, who really cares?
Fatboy is outtttttttaaaaaaa heeeeeeeeerre!)

Ray Ratto had a great article about the situation today:

5.30 vs NY Mets - Giants Win! Guess Who Got the Save??

Guess who got the save in tonight's HUGE win?? Yep you guessed it - Brad Hennessey!

Zito pitched a fantastic game that we had to have! His line tonight:
IP H R ER BB K
7 6 0 0 1 7

Now that's what I'm talking about. That's how an ace is supposed to pitch in a must-win game.

Losing streak and gut-wrenching losses aside, it was critical to win a game that featured so many unlikely contributions:
- Pete Happy knocking in all 3 runs
- Richie Aurilia going 4-for-4
- Big Bengie scoring all the way from 1st base on Pete's triple
- Another hit from Barry - Zito that is - to raise his avg to .136. He's almost caught Sweeney (.167)

Oh yeah, our new(?) temp(?) closer Hennessey wasn't too shabby either:
3 batters up and 3 outs. No walks. No balks. No hits. No walk-off jacks. Giants win. Go figure.

Hey Boch - great job in keeping in 'Mando on the bench for a few games with the old "
He's been healthy to this point. Now his knee has flared up. You have to do the best you can with the players you have. ... We've got to close these games out and we've got to use our best option."

Benitez might be out tonight, too, Bochy said. Excellent! Well played, well played. This is what good managers do - give their teams the best chance to win games. Obviously having 'Mando on the bench gives us the best chance to win. http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?file=/c/a/2007/05/31/SPGJ4Q3GFP1.DTL

5.29 vs NY Mets - Oops He Did It Again

Thanks 'Mando for imploding last night and wasting what could have been one of the best wins of the year against the best team in the National League. Instead of savoring another great pitching performance by Lincecum and the double improbables of solid bullpen work and a 12th inning comeback, we're left in the wake of another Blownitez disaster.

2 balks in one inning? Really?

Balk in the tying run on a play you should've learned to ignore in Little League? Really?

Walk-off home run by Delgado? Really? Of course! At that point, there was only one way that game could end.

You should apologize to all of your teammates - not just for being 'Mando - but for blowing your 3rd save in your last 6 chances. Asshole.

WELCOME!

Welcome to Benitez Must Go - a daily tribute to the wonder and majesty of our favorite closer Armando Blownitez. This blog can be many things to many people - space to vent, group therapy or daily plea to Giants management to get rid of this fat, selfish, unaccountable-nothing-is-my-fault-bum.

I hope to one day dedicate this blog to the MEMORY of Armando Blownitez...after he's long gone from the Giants and is off to another city and another team; infecting them all with his jackassness as only 'Mando can. Enjoy!
